Sean McCoy is a proud native of Mullingar and a retired primary school principal of St. Colman’s National School.
He has been closely involved with the Mullingar Arts Centre for many years, having served both as a board member and as chairperson.
For the past two decades, Sean’s primary focus within the centre has been the promotion of Irish-language drama in schools. He is a former President and Chairperson of An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta, the national organisation dedicated to Irish-language drama for both primary and post-primary students.
Under his leadership and dedication, the All-Ireland finals of An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta have been hosted annually at Mullingar Arts Centre for over 20 years. This event sees more than 1,500 children perform across six days, with 44 plays staged by schools from every corner of the country.
